Terms of use

Last updated 2 October 2026 · Deutsch

These are the rules for playing Trivl: what you agree to when you make an account, and what you can expect from us. They are written to be read, so please do.

Who we are

Trivl is made by Die Digitalen GmbH, Rautistrasse 60, CH-8048 Zürich. "We" and "us" on this page mean Die Digitalen GmbH. You can reach us at support@trivl.com.

You get the app from the App Store under Apple's standard licence agreement for apps (Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement). That agreement covers the app itself; these terms add the rules of the game and of your Trivl account. Where the two disagree about the licence to the app, Apple's agreement wins.

How we handle your data is in the privacy policy.

Your account

  • You sign in with Apple or with Google, and your Trivl account is tied to that account. Keep it safe: whoever can sign in to it can play as you.
  • One account per person, and only you play on it. You cannot sell, give away or share your account.
  • Trivl is not for children under 13. If you are under 18, ask a parent before you buy anything in the app.
  • You can delete your account at any time in the app, under Profile, Edit profile, Delete account.

Your handle

Other players see your handle and avatar. Trivl makes up your handle from an adjective, an animal and a number; you cannot type your own, and if you do not like it you can ask for another until you do. If a handle still turns out to be a problem, we may change it.

Fair play

Duels, the daily quiz, the ladders and the Nations Cup only work if everyone plays them straight. So you may not:

  • use a bot, script or any program that answers or plays for you;
  • play on more than one account, or let someone else play on yours;
  • arrange duels or lose on purpose to move XP, ratings or rankings between accounts;
  • use a bug or a fault in Trivl to your advantage. If you find one, tell us at support@trivl.com instead;
  • interfere with Trivl's servers, take its questions or other content in bulk, or copy the app.

If you break these rules, we may cancel the results involved, reset your XP, ratings or streaks, take you out of rankings and the Nations Cup, or suspend or close your account. What we do depends on how serious it was, and we tell you what we did.

Purchases, XP and other things in the game

Some things in Trivl you buy, like category unlocks, energy refills and Lifelines. Others you earn by playing, like XP, ratings, streaks, unlock credits and Lifelines. All of them are part of the game:

  • they have no value in money, cannot be exchanged for money or anything outside Trivl, and cannot be moved to another account;
  • buying one gives you the right to use it in Trivl, while Trivl runs and your account exists. When you delete your account, everything in it goes too;
  • we may change how they work to keep the game fair and balanced, for example how much XP a win earns or what a Lifeline does. We do not take away anything you bought and have not used yet, unless you broke these terms.

You buy through the App Store, so Apple is the seller, takes the payment and decides refunds under its own terms. To ask for a refund, go to reportaproblem.apple.com. A purchase is added to your account once Apple confirms it; if one does not arrive, write to us.

Subscriptions

If Trivl offers a subscription, you buy it from Apple, as with any purchase. It renews automatically, for the same period and at the price shown, until you cancel it. Cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends, in your device's Settings under your Apple Account, Subscriptions. Deleting the app or your Trivl account does not cancel a subscription.

The service

Trivl is free to play and shows ads. We keep improving it, so features, categories, questions, prices and rules change over time. We check every question against sources, but one can still be wrong; tell us if you spot one. We work to keep Trivl running, but we cannot promise it is always available or free of faults.

Ending

You can stop at any time by deleting your account. We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms. If we ever shut Trivl down, we say so in the app at least 30 days before.

Liability

We are liable for damage we cause on purpose or through gross negligence. Beyond that, and as far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect damage or lost profits, nor for lost game progress or items, and our liability is limited to what you paid in Trivl in the 12 months before the damage.

Law and courts

These terms are governed by Swiss law, without its conflict-of-law rules and without the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. The courts of Zurich, Switzerland, decide any dispute. If you are a consumer living in another country, you keep the protection its mandatory law gives you, and you can also go to the courts where you live.

Changes

If we change these terms, we update this page and the date at the top. If a change matters to you, we tell you in the app before it applies. If you keep playing after that, the new terms apply; if you do not agree, you can delete your account.
